AMHERST, Mass. – The Patrick-Murray Administration and university leaders today celebrated news that the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC) has attracted a national science grant through the University of Massachusetts Amherst and MIT. The nearly $250,000, two-year award will ensure that students returning to Holyoke and Springfield schools this month benefit from the state’s newest high-tech facility coming to their neighborhood.
With an innovative municipally-owned utility (HG&E) on-the-horizon; innovative clean energy technologies; a talented workforce; a blossoming entrepreneur environment; broad academic research and education capabilities; and an engaged public and private sector — Holyoke and the Connecticut River Valley region are well-poised to help create, deploy, and leverage the next generation of clean energy system technologies.

BOSTON – Wednesday, August 31, 2011 – The Patrick-Murray Administration and congressional leaders today celebrated the United States Commerce Department’s $2.1 million award for hydro-electric infrastructure improvements needed to support Holyoke’s Innovation District and the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC). Holyoke Gas and Electric will oversee the $7.4 million project to supply the MGHPCC with the reliable power it needs to conduct world-class research and development as well as put the necessary infrastructure in place to make it more feasible for high-tech firms to locate downtown.
